14 companies to invest Rs 3,301 Crore in Dakshina Kannada District

Mangalore, Jan 22 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industry Katta Subramanya Naidu today said that 14 companies have come forward to invest Rs 3,301 Crore in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district.

Addressing a press conference, after chairing an Investors Meeting here, he said the industries which had come forward to invest included IT giant Wipro, Tata Consultancy, Suzlon (Windmill Manufacturing company), Mourya Group, Blue Valley, Leela Group B and B Infrastructure Group, Raju Group and Dia System. The investment would be in IT, Hospitality and Tourism Sectors and have sought 430 acres of land with a promise to provide 67,000 job opportunities.

Another Rs 500 Crore investment was expected from Satyam Computers, Murdeshwar Ceramics and B R Shetty, a prominent NRI from Abu Dhabi, he added.

Mr Naidu said the assured investment would flow into the both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in the next two to three years in stages. The government with proper follow up action would sincerely make its efforts to give its approval to all these proposals. Those investments below Rs 50 Crore were being cleared under Single Window system.

He said that the Janata Dal (Secular) led coalition government has so far approved investment to the tune of Rs 80,000 crore.
