12-party demonstration against ULFA violence

Guwahati, Jan 22 (UNI) The 12-party conglomerate today staged a sit-in demonstration in the city, condemning the recent spurt of violence in Asom and demanding peaceful resolution of insurgency.

The protestors demanded that the ULFA and government should sit for talks and resolve the problems through political dialogue.

They also condemned the violence unleashed in the state by the banned ULFA and urged an end to it.

Various leaders of the 12 parties, including former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, participated in the demonstration.
