Woman constable succumb to her injuries

Puducherry,Jan 21(UNI) A woman police constable, who attempted suicide on January 15 has succumbed to her burns at the Jipmer hospital here.

Police said Vineetha (37), hailing from Mahe region of the Union Territory attached to the Grand Bazaar police station, allegedly set herself on fire on Monday last and was admitted to the hospital with 90 per cent burns.

Vineetha was married to a constable Kannan, attached to the D Nagar station and they had two children. Vineetha, however, was living alone for some time due to differences with her husband and the children were staying with their father.

It is persumed that family problems might have forced her to take the extreme step, police added.
