Protest after Ambedkar statue vandalised
Gurgaon, Jan 21: Tension prevailed in Heli Mandi, a small township near Pataudi last night when unidentified miscreants damaged a statue of Bhimrao Ambedkar, the founder of the Indian Constitution, police today said.
According to official reports members of the Dalit community blocked traffic on the Heli Mandi-Pataudi road and raised anti-government slogans. They demanded arrest of those reponsible for this act of vandalism.
The police have registered a complaint, but so far no arrests had been made, police said. The situation was described as tense but under control.
