Policeman, 6 Naxals killed in separate encounters
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Jan 21: One policeman and six Naxalites were killed in separate encounters with police in the past 24 hours in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, police said.
A police patrol team was attacked by the extremists at Reghadgaha village in Bhejji area and in the ensuing encourter, police constable Lakhan Markam was killed.
His body was taken to Bhejji police station. Two Naxals were also shot dead in the encounter, while two women ultras were arrested.
In another incident, the ultras opened fire on a police team was patrolling near Timarpur village. Two Naxals were shot dead in police retaliation. Their bodies were recovered and the police were combing the nearby areas.
In a police encounter last evening in the forest near Koda village under Vedre police station area, two Naxalites were killed. Police had recovered two guns from the spot.
