One killed, eight injured in two blasts in Asom
Guwahati, Jan 21 (UNI) One person was killed and at least eight injured in two blasts triggered by the ULFA in lower Asom today.
Police confirmed that one blast occurred at Bohori in Barpeta district and another at Bongaigaon.
In the Bahari explosion, one cobbler was killed and three were critically injured. The injured were shifted to the Guwahati Medical College (GMC) and Hospital.
Initially, police sources said four people were killed in the blast.
The bomb was a programmable time device and planted near the cobbler's shop where people had assembled.
In another incident, five people were injured when a bomb went off in front of the Bongaigaon Railway Station.
Police said that ULFA deliberately targeted lower Asom so that pressure on them eased in Upper Asom.
