Middle-aged couple sustain bullet injuries

Davanagere, Jan 21 (UNI) A middle-aged couple sustained bullet injuries while police personnel practicing were practicing shooting in a open field near Voddinahalli on National Highway Four, about 10 km from here yesterday evening.

According to the delayed reports, Mr Nagaraj Rao (45) and Manda Gangawati (40) were engaged in Sugar cane field when the mishap occurred.

The injured have been admitted District Hospital and their condition was stated to be out of danger.

Following the incident tense situation prevailed for some time with villagers protesting against policemen practicing in the open field. They alleged that despite several protest the policemen are continuing to practice in open field.

District Superintendent of Police Sonia Narang has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
