Meghalaya experiences mild tremor today
Shillong, Jan 21 (UNI) An earthquake of light intensity shook Meghalaya's capital Shillong today.
The tremor, measuring a magnitude of 2.6 on the Richter scale, occurred at 1300 hrs with its epicentre about 12 km from Central Seismological Observatory (CSO) at Upper Shillong, CSO officials told UNI here today.
However, there was no report of loss of life and property, officials said.
The North-Eastern India, which falls in the highest Seismic Zone in the country, is prone to earthquakes.
