Mayawati demands CBI probe into Madarsa students rape case

Allahabad, Jan 21 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today demanded a CBI probe into the alleged gangrape of two girls students at a 'madarsa' here.

Addressing a gathering after meeting the victims, Ms Mayawati gave an assistance of Rs five lakh for the security arrangements of the 'madarasa'.

Hitting out at the Samajwadi Party (SP)-led UP government, BSP chief demanded the dismissal of the state government and imposition of President's rule.

Expressing concern over the 'poor' law and order conditions prevailing in UP, she alleged the present government has miserably failed to safeguard people of the state, including women. ''There is 'Jungle Raj' and the government is 'hand-in-glove' with the criminals.'' ''I would inform in black and white about the incident to President A P J Abdul Kalam, the centre and UP Governor T V Rajeshvar and would not sit till the victims get justice,'' she added.

She alleged the police is 'dancing on the tune' of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and is not even ready to lodge FIR. The district administration was asked to provide security cover to the 'madarsa' but it refused.

''It is an irony that Mulayam Singh Yadav was in Allahabad yesterday. He had time to visit the Ardh Kumbh Mela but did not bother to spend a moment with the victims,'' she underlined.
