Kalyan Singh for re-induction of Uma into BJP

New Delhi, Jan 21: Senior BJP leader Kalyan Singh has communicated to the party high command that it would be beneficial for the party to take former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharati back in its fold.

According to party sources, the main reason for Mr Singh, who is also the chief ministerial candidate in UP, to convey his 'feelings' was not because she belonged to his lodh community but her separate meetings with Congress leaders Moti Lal Vohra, Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari, Union Minister Oscar Fernandes and Ahmed Patel, political advisor to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

''If she goes with Congress, then Congress and her, Bharatiya Janshakti, will be able to cut into BJP vote bank and badly affect the BJP in UP and Uttaranchal,'' he told the party leadership.

Mr Singh also expressed apprehensions that Congress could use her against the BJP by funding to put her party candidates against it.

Taking note of his advice the coordination committee of the RSS and BJP was scheduled to meet yesterday but it could not due to some reasons.

It was also likely to discuss the re-induction of former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana who could be useful for the party in Delhi election.

The members of the co-ordination committee are senior RSS leaders including Mohan Bhagwat, Madan Das Devi, Mr Ram Madhav and BJP President Rajnath Singh and BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Sanjay Joshi.

Sources said the RSS and BJP President Rajnath Singh were keen to take the two leaders who were expelled from the party for indiscipline, back in the party. But there was a strong opposition to it within the party.

Mr Kalyan Singh's advice to the high command has further reinforced the need to take them back, sources added.
