J&K Floriculture employees threaten hunger strike

Srinagar, Jan 21 (UNI) Employees of the Floriculture Department have threatened hunger strike over the Jammu and Kashmir government's decision to privatise the entry ticket system (ETS).

The Gardeners and Head Gardeners Association (GHGA) and the Non-Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) of the Floriculture Department, at a meeting here last evening, expressed surprise over the government plan to privatise the ETS.

''Privatisation of ETS will be great injustice to the field staff. When it started, the officers had assured promotions to the employees, but they have been even deprived of holidays and not given any compensation till date,'' the meeting said.

The employees asked the government to resolve their demands and not give the ETS in private hands.

The Associations also threatened hunger strike next month if the government failed to resolve their genuine demands.
