Farmers to lay seige on Vidhana Soudha demanding scientific price
Mysore, Jan 21 (UNI) Sugar cane growers of Mysore and Chamarajanagara have decided to intensify their agitation and lay seize to Vidhana Soudha, the State Secretariat, on February Five demanding scientific prices for the sugar cane.
Speaking to newsmen here Mysore and Chamarajanagara Sugar cane Growers Association President Kurabur Shanthakumar said that the Association had been demanding the Sugar cane price be fixed at Rs 1600 per ton and government has failed to respond their calls, hence the protest.
He said that a rally would be taken out from Bangalore Railway station to Vidhana Soudha on that day. The banks should provide loans to the sugar cane growers, on the lines of loans given to other farmers and the government should provide agriculture subsidy directly to the farmers. At present loan was given to sugar cane growers after a tie-up with Sugar Companies.
