Death toll in Devgadh-Baria Congress rally accident rises to 6
Vadodara, Jan 21 (UNI) Two more tribal Congress workers succumbed to their injuries at the SSG hospital here today, taking the toll in yesterday's accident at the party's rally at Devgadh-Baria to six.
The accident occurred when a jeep, carrying back 15 Congress workers to Savli, after Sonia Gandhi's massive Adivasi Rally at Devgadh-Baria, skidded off the road and fell into a trench.
Three party workers died on the spot and another succumbed to his injuries at SSG civil hospital here.
Police sources said, two more victims identified as Gordhan Bhil (35) and Kantibhai Rathwa (20) succumbed to their injuries at the hospital today, sources said.
Two others--Bharat Tadvi and Jashwant Tadvi, who had sustained severe head injuries, were today referred to an Ahmedabad hospital, SSG hospital sources said.
On hearing the news, local Congress MP and Minister of State for Railways Naran Rathwa and other party leaders, who were also returning from the rally, rushed to the scene at Mandav village, about 20 km from Devgadh-Baria.
