CITU to take up at national level Anganawadi workers demand

Bangalore, Jan 21(UNI) Strongly criticising the Janata Dal (Secular) and Bharatiya Janata coalition government for its alleged anti-labour policies, Centre of Indian Trade Unions President M K Pandhe today said that CITU would launch a nation-wide struggle if the State government fails to provide adequate wages to Anganawadi workers in the State.

Addressing a Public Rally at the end a five-day All India Conference here, he said that the coalition government in the State was neglecting working class.

Condemning Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy's high living and spending lavishly, he said that his (Kumaraswamy's) one meal at hotels was equal to that of one month salary of an Anganwadi teacher.

There are workers from other sectors like farm, bidi, mining and weaving whose condition is very pathetic, he said adding that workers should unite and bring a workers' government in the state by removing this anti-worker government.

He also attacked the government's approach to cancel introduction of eggs at mid-day meals for school children. ''It is a handiwork of communal forces opposing it in favour of milk,'' he said adding that the children could not be assured of good quality of milk like the eggs.
