AREVA, NTPC launch major techonology project

New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) After commissioning 765 KV switchyard in Chhattisgarh, AREVA's Transmission&Distribution (T&D) division, together with National Thermal Power (NTPC) Ltd, today announced the launch of a major technology project to implement the 765 KV technology at Sipat.

Power generated at this plant will be transmitted at 765 KV through two single circuit transmission lines, a company statement said.

In February 2006, an engineering clearance protocol was signed between the two companies to set up the 765 KV switchyard package.

Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde inaugurated the Sipat site yesterday, in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, Power Secretary R V Shahi, NTPC Chairman and Managing director T Sankralingam and AREVA T&D President (India) A K Dhagat. NTPC has set up a 3,000 MW power station at the Sipat site, which will have three 660 MW units with super critical technology and two 550 MW units.

Additionally, AREVA T&D, one of the world's leading electricity transmission and distribution companies, will provide 765 KV, 400 KV and 132 KV switchyards.
