UP files report on Nithari killings to NHRC

Lucknow, Jan 20 (UNI) THe Uttar Pradesh government has filed its reply to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on the Nithari serial killing.

NHRC chairman Justice Shivraj V Patil said here the state government filed its reply recently after the human rights body issued notice.

''UP has filed its reply...the issue is in the preliminary stage.

We will take appropriate action after going through the details,'' he said.

The government, before handing over the case to CBI, had dismissed six policemen and suspended four others, for their laxity in dealing with the situation.

The Commission's full bench was in Lucknow for three-days since January 18 to look into several cases of human rights violation.

Accordingly, it disposed off 182 cases of the 1,000 cases listed for hearing in three days.
