Three sandalwood thieves arrested
Bhopal, Jan 20 (UNI) Three sandalwood thieves were today arrested and tree logs stolen from police headquarters and police officer's residence seized, police said.
''Sehore-residents Sattar, Shabbir and Ballu had connections with perfume manufactures in Kannauj and Kanpur of Uttar Pradesh,'' Superintendent of Police Anant Kumar Singh said.
Sattar had committed robbery at police headquarters on January 5, while others had chopped trees from a police officer's residence here.
Police investigation has revealed that several people in villages in Sehore were involved in sandalwood theft and chopping sandalwood trees.
He said another Sehore-resident Mulla used to purchase sandalwood at Rs 1,000 per kg from the culprits.
The accused used to identify the trees first and then used to cut them during night. Police were searching other thieves of the group.
He announced reward for the police team that arrested the accused.
