Singapore Foreign minister hopes for better ties with Bengal
Kolkata, Jan 20 (UNI) Singapore Foreign minister George Yeo today called on West Bengal Chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee and discussed with him the scope of further improving bilateral trade and cultural relations between the city state and Bengal.
Mr Yoe who arrived here today on a two day visit, met the Chief Minister at his office in Writers' Building. The meeting was officially described as 'courtesy call'.
Later speaking to newsmen, the Singapore Foreign minister described his half an hour long meeting with Mr Bhattacherjee as''very fruitful'' and said he was very hopeful for a better relations between the state and his island country in the coming years. He was also in full praise of the Chief Minister for his pro-active stance on the industrialisation programme.
Later, Mr Yeo visited Netaji Bhawan and showed keen interest while inspecting various historal objects which were associated with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
