Jama Masjid to be rehab; shopkeepers displaced

New Delhi, Jan 20: Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri today issued strict instruction to make available appropriate space to shopkeepers who had been relocated from Jama Masjid area.

Municipal Corporation of Delhi had been developing the area near bank of Shastri Park Nala in East Delhi to rehabilitate all such shopkeepers displaced from the around the historic monument, in an effort to spruce it up as also to maintain it better.

Mr Suri also called a meeting of senior officers tomorrow to sort out all the issues in the connection, including some misgivings and grievances of the shopkeepers.

He gave the instructions while inspecting the 'development' work in the area and interacting with representatives of Old Clothes Shopkeeper's Welfare Association.
