Republic Day arrangements finalised in Jammu
Jammu, Jan 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government today finalised arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations at Moulana Azad Stadium here during a high level meeting chaired by Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mangat Ram Sharma.
As many as 12 contingents of army, BSF, CRPF, JKAP, auxiliary police, fire services and ex-servicemen, NCC, besides two contingents of school children would take part in the annual march past.
A colourful cultural programme would be presented by the Information Department and school children. Important installations, government buildings including Raj Bhavan, Legislative Complex, High Court, Shaheedi Chowk and other places will be adorned by colourful lights.
Transport facilities would be provided by the police, JKAP, CRPF, and SRTC on the republic day and also during the rehearsal days, an official said. The seating arrangements, printing of invitation cards, publicity, maintenance of sanitation and cleanliness in and around Moulana Azad Stadium are also in order. The VVIPs would also pay tributes to the martyrs who laid their lives on Republic Day in Jammu in 1995.
The meeting was attended by many top officials, including Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Pramod Jain, Additional Director General Security Kuldeep Khuda and IGP Jammu, S P Vaid.
