Palestinians Abbas and Meshaal to meet in Damascus

DAMASCUS, Jan 20 (Reuters) Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal are due to meet late today in the Syrian capital to try to solve the political crisis between them, a high level Hamas member said.

The two politicians will discuss the names of ministers for interior, finance and foreign affairs in a proposed unity government, Izzat al-Rishq told Reuters.

Abbas arrived in Damascus earlier today and met Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
