Ontario Premier MacGuinty happy over response to Mission India

Jalandhar, Jan 20 (UNI) Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty has expressed satisfaction over the success of his ongoing mission in India aiming at setting up multipurpose partnerships.

Talking to reporters here today Mr McGuinty said that his government was willing to open up new trade, research, culture and educational links with India and it was matter of satisfaction for him that Ontario had effectively delivered its message in India.

Mr McGuinty said that Ontarians are willing to work in partnership with Indians in the field of culture, entertainment, education, research, infrastructure development, mining and financial services.

He said ''We have told Indian business and political leadership that Ontario has what India needs to sustain its rapid economic growth and to move its society forward and that Ontario is great place for Indians to invest''.

He said that his message had been received well by some of the most important business figures and government officials in India.

The premier also said that Ontarians and their Indian counterparts during the current visit had signed several agreements of cooperation in various fields involving investment of around 350 million US Dollars.

Mr McGuinty is leaidng a 100 member delegation of Ontarian business men, academicians and experts from other fields. Most of the delegates had reached India on January 11 and so far had toured a number of places including Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Chandigarh.

Mr McGuinty addressed a congregation of NRIs here this evening. He will visit Amritsar tomorrow to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple.
