One policeman, four naxals killed in separate encounters
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Jan 20 (UNI) Four naxalites were killed in two separate encounters with police in the past 24 hours in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
A policeman was killed by the naxalites in a third encounter.
Police said a patrol team was attacked by extremists at Reghadgaha village in Bhejji area. Police constable Lakhan Markam was killed in the ensuing encounter. His body was taken to Bhejji police station.
In another incident, a police team was patrolling near Timarpur village when the ultras opened fire and two naxals were shot dead in police retaliation. The dead bodies have been recovered. Police were combing nearby areas.
Another encounter took place last evening in the forest near Koda village under Vedre police station area when a police team was patrolling the area.
Two naxalites were killed on the spot. Police recovered two guns from the spot.
