Narasimhan to take oath on Jan 25
Raipur, Jan 20 (UNI) Former Intelligence Bureau chief E S L Narasimhan will take oath as Governor of Chhattisgarh on January 25.
The Governor-designate will arrive here on January 24 evening and outgoing Governor Lt.Gen (Retd) Krishna Mohan Seth will leave on the same day, Raj Bhawan sources said.
Republic day parade will be the first public function of Mr Narasimhan after assuming the gubernatorial post.
Mr Narasimhan retired as IB Chief on December 31 and his background as an IPS officer from the naxal-hit Andhra Pradesh is expected to stand him in good stead in Chhattisgarh, which too is prone to Naxalite violence.
Mr Seth became the Chhattisgarh Governor in 2002 after he was shifted here from Tripura. Though his tenure ended in June 2005, he continued on the post till appointment of his successor.
Mr Narasimhan will be the third Governor of Chhattisgarh, which was carved out of Madhya Pradesh on November 1, 2000. Mr Dinesh Nandan Sahaya, a former IPS officer of Bihar, was the first Governor.
