Moharram moon sighted, New Islamic year begins tomorrow

New Delhi, Jan 20 (UNI) The Shahi Imam of the Fatehpuri Masjid today said the 'new moon' of Moharram had been sighted and that 'Aashoorah Moharram' would be observed on January 30.

Due to the sighting of the moon today, the new Islamic calender year 1428 will start tomorrow, said Maulana Mufti M Mukarram Ahmed in a release.
