Milk along with mid-day meals instead of eggs: Kumaraswamy
Mysore, Jan 20 (UNI) Putting to rest the raging controversy over distribution of eggs along with the mid-day meals to the school children in the state, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy announced that the Government would distribute milk instead of eggs.
Speaking at the concluding day function of the five-day Shivarathreswara Jatra celebrations at Suttur near here, he said the government had noted the feelings of various persons including religious heads who had opposed distribution the eggs along with mid day meals.
The Chief Minister responsed positively to the call given earlier by the Suttur seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamy that the milk would ideal along with mid day meals.
Mr Kumaraswamy criticised the opposition parties which had been opposing almost every pro-people programmes of the coalition government including on the issue of loan waiver to the farmers in the state.He posed the challenge that if his government did ont committed his decision on the loan waiver to the farmers "he will not be in the power' and once committed and one should have 'will power' to face the consequences out of the loan waivers to the farmers.Since from long years the farmers have not been looked off and their problems have not be heard by any government. Government has been giving heavy investors and industrialists for tax free for many years along with providing places for them in cheaper prices, but forgotten the farmers.
Referring to the single number lottery and arrack sales issue, Mr Kumaraswamy said his government had already committed on this issue and wanted to make Karnataka'lottery free state' and ban on the arrack and an decision would be taken at may come in the way' he added.
He said many programmes would be announced for the farmers in the coming state budget incuding marketing facilities to their products and support price for their products. Referring to the land grabs in Bangalore in and around, he said he had already announced decision to take back the Government lands which was given to throwaway prices to the persons including industralists and will not be yield any pressure from any one on this issue.
Ministers H D Revanna, Chaluvarayaswamy, Bandappa Kashappanawar, and Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji and Sri Gangadharendra Swamiji of Uttara Kannada also spoke on the occasion.
