Insane youth hack three to death

Chhindwara(MP), Jan 20: A mentally challenged youth axed to death three villagers, including a woman, and injured seven at four villages in Chhindwara district yesterday, police said.

The youth, who was identified as Vijay Babne, resident of Paradsinga village, 70 km from here, went berserk and attacked whoever came on his way with a sharp-edged 'Kulhadi' (axe).

After seriously injuring 11-year-old Niaz Amanullah Khan at the village playground, Vijay attacked four people, including two women, working on their farm at nearby Brahman-Pipla village. Gulabrao Kakre(81) and Ms Mainabai were killed on the spot, while Anandrao Babne(60) died on way to hospital. Ms Babybai, who was seriously injured, was being treated at a hospital at Nagpur.

Police said Vijay went missing after attacking few people at nearby Kabarpipla and Kheditay villages.

The condition of six youth, who also suffered minor injuries, was stated to be satisfactory. They were undergoing domiciliary treatment, police said.

Police has started a manhant in search of Vijay, whose father Tulsiram Babne said his son was insane for over a year, but never indulged in violence earlier.
