Indian cashew exporters to visit Vietnam

Kochi, Jan 20 (UNI) A 30-member delegation of Indian cashew exporters will visit Vietnam from January 22 to 25.

According to an official statement here, the delegation, sponsored by the Cashew Export Promotion Council of India (CEPCI), would be headed by CEPCI Chairman Walter D'Souza.

The delegation would hold several high level meetings to discuss standardisation of grades, joint representation in International Treenut Council (INC) to muster due importance for cashews. It would conduct promotional events in consumption destinations, nutritional study and promotion and continuing exchange of personnel informations.

The delegation would also hold discussions with Vietnam Cashew Association (VINCAS), a body representing cashew exporters from Vietnam under the leadership of Pham Van Bie.

The team would visit cashew farms, factories and research centres, and interact with all the stakeholders concerned with cashew in Vietnam.

India was the largest producer, processor and exporter of cashew kernels in the world with exports of about 1,25,000 MT per annum, worth Rs 2,700 crore. Vietnam followed with exports of over 1,00,000 MT per annum and Brazil was third with about 35,000 MT per annum.
