Patil reviews progress in tsunami rehab prog
Puducherry, Jan 20: Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, along with Minister of State for Home Raghupaty, today reviewed the progress in the tsunami rehabilitation programmes in the union territory.
The two ministers visited Moorthy Pudukuppam village near here where 225 houses were constructed for the tsunami-affected by the S O S Children's Village.
Mr Patil inspected a house and gathered information about the structure and size of the houses.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy and Speaker Radhakrishnan along with Chief Secretary Pradeep Mehra explained to Mr Patil the construction of houses. He was informed that 225 houses, each in 340 sq ft, were constructed at the village.
Later, the ministers visited Veerampatinam village where the Maharashtra Government was constructing houses for the tsunami affected people.
Earlier on his arrival at the Puducherry helipad, Lt Governor Mukut Mithi, Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Ministers, Speaker Radhakrishnan, Parliament members Narayansami and Ramadass others received him.
