Haryana gets grant to promote bio-diesel
Chandigarh, Jan 20 (UNI) The Centre has provided a sum of Rs 1.50 crore to Haryana government for promoting bio-diesel mission through Centre for Research and Application in Plant Tissue Culture (CRAPTC), besides micro-propagation of elite germ plasm of bamboo variety and patent information centre projects.
Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that CRAPTC had developed technology for commercial multiplication of sugarcane, safed musli, guava and eucalyptus by using tissue culture techniques. Besides, it had also started production of vermin-compost and vermi-wash.
Mr Chander Mohan said that CRAPTC had disbursed five lakh plants of sugarcane, jatropha and safed musli to the farmers and government agencies during the past two years.
He said keeping in view the increase in demand of various plant species, the government had decided to expand the scope of work of the CRAPTC by providing more facilities and expansion in building of the centre.
He said CRAPTC was also providing plants of various agriculture, horticulture and forest species raised through tissue culture technique to the farmers so that they could avail the benefit of the scheme.
