Globalisation provides opportunity for resurgence: Meghnad

Patna, Jan 20 (UNI) Lord Meghnad Desai, professor of London School of Economics, today said Bihar was on the verge of resurgence adding that globalisation has provided a golden opportunity in the state's development.

Lord Desai was here to attend 'Global Bihar Meet', inaugurated by President Abdul Kalam yesterday, lamented that Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, known as BIMARU states, failed to visualise the routes of the problems they were facing.

He said globalisation had provided a unique opportunity to improve the people of the state.

Delivering a lecture on the sidelines of a three-day global meet here, Lord Desai lambasted the previous government for slow economic growth and have not done effort to create job opportunities for the unskilled labour.

Bihar deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said agenda for development of the country could be best served by the country itself.
