Funeral of flihgt lt serao held with government honour

Mangalore, Jan 20 (UNI) The funeral of Flight Lt Ronald Serao (26), a native of Mangalore, who was killed in the air crash during air exercise on a Jaguar fighter flight at Phokhran on January 18 was held here this evening with all government honour.

The body of fFight Lt Sarao which was air lifted was brought here at noon today to his residence at Kulashekar in the city.

Deputy Commissioner Maheshwar Rao and Police Superintendent B Dayanand placed wreath on the body and paid last respect, representing the state government.

A large number of people and well wishers visited the house and paid homage to the departed soul.

The body was later taken in a procession to the nearby church where the funeal was conducted under the guidence of Vicar General of Mangalore Diocis Fr Fred Pereira.

The funeral was attended by Sarao's father retired Col John Serao, his mother Dr Jesica Serao and wife Pilot Deepeka besides large numbers of friends and well wishers and relatives.

Flight Lt Ronald, who joined Airforce only four and half years back married pilot Deepkia in April last year. Ronald was killed in the air crash while he was practising on a Jaguar for the Republic Day Air Show.
