Father donates accident victim's eyes
Yamunanagar, Jan 20 (UNI) When Nirmala Bharti and Hansraj today opened their eyes to see the world for the first time, they chose to have in front of them the man who had spared a thought for them when hit by a shattering tragedy.
For, once blind Nirmala and Hansraj, were today seeing the world through the eyes of Ashu, who was once an apple of Rooplal's eyes.
In an exemplary gesture, Rooplal, who was heartbroken when his 15-year-old daughter died after being hit by a speeding truck on January 18, overcame his grief and decided to donate her eyes to blind persons.
After convincing his family that in this way Ashu would continue to be with them in a way, Rooplal conveyed his wish to Dr Vivek Talwar, who readily offered to do the needful without taking any fee.
Local residents Nirmala and Hansraj, who needed a corneal transplant, were promptly grafted with Ashu's corneas.
When the bandage was removed this morning, their wish to see their benefactors Rooplal and his family, was fulfilled.
