Excise team officials attacked, 10 injured

Hoshangabad, MP, Jan 20 (UNI) Ten people, including one excise sub-inspector and five excise officials, were attacked and injured when they had gone to take action in connection with illegal liquor sale at Piparya town in this district, police said.

An excise team had gone along with four men of a private liquor contractor to take action in connection with illegal liquor sale when a group of more than 50 people, including women, attacked them.

Excise Sub-inspector Arendra Sharma, head constables Barelal Ahirwar, Mahesh Sahu, Ramprasad Sharma, constables Lakshmi Patel and Gaurishankar were injured. Besides, the contractor's men were also injured.

Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Samar Verma confirmed the incident.

A case was registered against 20 people, including main accused Sarju, for preventing government work.
