Canada to return cross-border cross-dresser to US

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Jan 20 (Reuters) Canadian immigration officials were slated to deport a US man they found posing as a woman in a women's shelter in the Prairie city of Regina, Saskatchewan, a local newspaper reported.

Robert Farley, who pleaded guilty in provincial court to using false documents, had claimed to be a Maine resident named Kathleen Farley, the Regina Leader-Post reported.

He had used his sister's identity to get a US passport, birth certificate, driver's license and other identification, the newspaper said yesterday.

Workers at the women's shelter had tipped off immigration officers that one of their residents appeared to neither Canadian nor a woman.

Farley did not say anything during a brief court appearance on Thursday, the newspaper said.
