Tiruchirapalli, Jan 20 (UNI) The Bharathidasan University (BU) will be offering Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme on financial management from the next academic year.

Inaugurating a two-day International seminar on 'Case Study Method of Teaching in Commerce and Management Education', sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC) at the BU campus, here today, C Thangamuthu, Vice Chancellor of the varsity said in order to introduce the MBA programme, the varsity had planned to give up the existing Master of Financial Management (MFM) course from this year.

Stating that the case study method of teaching had been adopted in a limited way in India, Dr Thangamuthu said the progress of method has suffered due to shortage of case studies, especially in areas of financial management and industrial relations, among others. Besides this, non-availability of properly trained faculty has also been responsible for its poor progress, he added.

Around 20 delegates from United States, Israel, Iran, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bhutan, besides 300 delegates from India were participating in the seminar.

In the two-day deliberations, cases on markets, banking, finance, HRD and International business will be discussed and around 250 research papers will be presented.
