BJP promises responsible admin in Nagpur
Nagpur, Jan 20: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today released its manifesto for the February 1 elections to Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), promising a 'responsible and responsive' civic administration that would give 'development coupled with employment' to the residents of Maharashtra's second capital.
The manifesto was released by BJP city unit chief Sudhakar Deshmukh and other office bearers in the presence of party MLA Devendra Fadnavis.
Speaking to mediapersons later, Mr Fadnavis said if the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance came to power in Nagpur, it would establish a 500 MW power project with coal as well as fuel to make the city free of load shedding. The excess power after fulfilling the city's need of 150 MW would be sold to the government power utility, he said.
Mr Fadnavis said training centres would be opened in the city to impart necessary coaching to youth to help them derive benefit of the numerous employment opportunities that would be generated when the proposed international cargo hub became operational here.
Steps would be taken for round-the-clock water supply, development of Nagpur as tourism hub, housing to slum dwellers, regularisation of unauthorised layouts and transparency in the property tax regime, Mr Fadnavis said.
