BJP MP welcomes Lokayukta challan against minister
Bhopal, Jan 20 (UNI) BJP MP Lakshmi Narayan Sharma today described as historic the move by the Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta to issue 'challan' against political leaders without waiting for the government approval.
Referring to the chargesheet filed against Minister of State for Water Resources Jugal Kishore Bagri, who subsequently resigned as minister, Mr Sharma said the government had not intervened against this move of the Lokayukta giving a signal that it favoured cleansing of both political and administrative spheres.
Welcoming the Lokayukta's action, he asked the government to entrust the Lokayukta with the investigations into the long-pending cases against politicians and bureaucrats that were awaiting government permission.
He also urged the government to fill in vacant posts in the Lokayukta and providing 15 per cent additional salary to Lokayukta employees as given to the officials and employees of the Economic Offences Wing and the CBI.
