BestMed Tourism launches operations in India
Kochi, Jan 20: BestMed Tourism, a joint venture between Kochi-based Focus Group and Canadian leisure travel company Unbelievable India Tours, has launched its operations to tap the huge potential in medical tourism in India.
Talking to newspersons after signing the MoU here last evening, Focuz Group Chairman and Managing Director P T Jose said the venture would focus in promoting medical tourism potential of Kerala and India in overseas market, especially the West.
''India as one of the fastest emerging economies, have the best medical facilities, pratices and professionals on par with global standards at substantially low prices,'' he added.
He said advanced facilities, competent professionals, superior hospitality, price advantage and lesser waiting time for procedures make India especially the state the prime destination for medical tourism.
The company has tied-up with four hospitals and 25 resorts in the state and one hospital in Tamil Nadu after careful scrutiny by experts for the venture, he added.
Unbelievable India President Mathew Chacko said most surgeries in India cost just one by tenth of the cost in western countries with an estimated cost difference of 60 to 70 per cent on medical treatments in premier institutions.
''In the US there is an estimated 55 million people without insurance cover and for them medical treatment in India will be a boon,'' he noted.
Unbelievable India, founded by non-resident Keralites in Canada and the US in 1972, has a leading presence in leisure travel segment in North America.
