CM visits hurt media persons, announces ex-gratia
Itanagar, Jan 20: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang announced exgratia payment of Rs one lakh to next of kin of each of three media persons and a driver, who were killed in a road accident near Jengging on January 13, while returning from Tuting after covering the Siang River Festival 2007.
Mr Apang made the announcement, while visiting Ratul Teron of DD-AT News and his assistant Md Mubarak Ali at R K Mission Hospital yesterday, where they were undergoing treatment.
He also announced Rs 50,000 each for their treatment and assured airlifting to the nearby hospital for specialised treatment. He inquired about their well being from orthopedician Dr Sekhar Das, attending the injured, and asked him to coordinate with Dr Moji Jini, chief medical officer, Naharlagun General Hospital to provide the best possible treatment in consultation with the guardians of the victims.
The Chief Minister, who was accompanied by home commissioner V K Singh and IGP A K Sinha asked tourism secretary Y D Thongchi, to henceforth check the licences of the drivers and the conditions of the vehicles carrying people for such events.
