ACP, two others in ACB custody

Mumbai, Jan 20 (UNI) An Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Railways, and two others were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, while bribing an Assistant Police Inspector (API), attached with the Azad Maidan police station last evening.

The accused -- Kishore Wadvani (44), Anil Sharma (42) and ACP Sirus Davirwala (55) were later produced before the special ACB Judge S S Joshi, who remanded them to police custody till December 29, and also fixed the hearing of their bail plea for the same day.

According to API Mahendra Jamrao, the duo, gutka manufacturers hailing from Indore, had approached him through the ACP, Railways, with a request that Jamrao destroy certain documents in return for money.

The documents were papers related to their case such as assignment deeds, death certificates and stamp papers, which are all forged, of a matter waiting to be heard at the Bombay High Court.

Instead of agreeing to their proposal, Jamrao approached the ACB and laid a trap to catch them red-handed. On Friday afternoon, when the duo followed Jamrao from the Court to the Police Station, they were caught immediately on bribing the API.
