Train accident averted
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Jan 19 (UNI) A train accident was averted when the Haridwar-bound Utkal Express was stopped just in time avoiding a collision with a tractor, which was stranded at a railway crossing in Bilaspur, Railway Police Force sources said today.
The tractor broke the gates of Uslapur railway crossing but was caught up at the crossing yesterday afternoon. Meanwhile, the Utkal Express had left from Bilaspur station.
An official from a cabin, near the railway crossing, gave red signal to the train and the driver applied emergency brakes halting the train and preventing the accident.
On receiving information, RPF personnel seized the tractor. The tractor driver was arrested under the Railway Act.
