Traders for inclusion of concerns as DDA meets to finalise MPD 2021

New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) The traders in Delhi today made last minute efforts to ensure incorporation of their issues of concern in the 2021 Master Plan even as a meeting of the DDA board began to finalise the proposals of MPD 2021.

Just as a meeting of the DDA board began at Raj Niwas in the Capital to give the final shape to the plan, a delegation of traders handed over a memorandum to DDA Board members Mange Ram Garg, Mahabal Mishra, Virender Kasana, Jile Singh Chouhan and Ishwar Das, demanding regularisation of business and other establishments that exist as on date of notification of Master Plan 2021.

The traders' delegation urged the Board members to present the traders issues in a strong manner in the Board Meeting in order to ensure relief to traders and people of Delhi from the threat of sealing.

The demands made by the traders delegation included a provision for formation of a Walled City Development Board for planned development of walled City area, declaring colonies developed prior to 1962 and properties described under Gadgil Award and Custodian as rehabilitation colonies and declaring commercial activities there, removal of categorisation of colonies in Delhi as it smacked of discrimination, re-classification of negative List and giving displaced traders an alternate space for relocation.

The traders are also demanding that commercial activities be allowed on all the floors of pedestrian shopping streets, that professions paying service tax be included in Professional category, commercial Shops and activities in DDA Flats be allowed to continue and declaring as full commercial area commercial use in localities developed by Municipal Committee or any other agency prior to 1962 like Kamla Nagar etc.

Delhi Administrator A R Kidwai has said the DDA is likely to finalise the Master Plan 2021 in today's meeting, which could then be notified by the Centre before January 31.

Talking to mediapersons yesterday, he said efforts were being made to accommodate as many suggestions, given by MLAs and Delhi government, as possible so that the maximum people could be benefited.
