Road map prepared for Mizoram

Aizawl, Jan 19: To set up a vibrant internal surface communication network, the Mizoram government has prepared a comprehensive road map of the state using remote sensing technology and geographical information system (GIS).

Talking to sources senior scientific officer of Mizoram state science and technology department Dr R.K.Lallianthanga said, the road map was very important, as both the centre and state departments have initiated a number of surface communication projects.

The state Public Works Department (PWD) has been allocated Rs 2.5 crore for improvement of roads in Mizoram for the current fiscal and the funds would be used for major improvement of 184 km of state roads.

It is also proposed to continue the on-going works of maintenance and improvement of state roads network as well as capital city and district towns roads, he added.
