Kerala: Railway introduces online examination

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 19: The Railway Recruitment Board here will conduct its first ''Online'' examination for selection to the post of Track Supervisor (Permanent way) on January 20 and 21.

A Railway release said online examination was quite easy and any candidate with minimum basic computer knowledge can easily do it.

Instead of marking the answers in the OMR sheet in a conventional written examination, online examination required the candidate to click on the relevant answer with the mouse for registering his/her answer to the question.

Candidates have options like ''Aroswing of paper, ''Attempt later', ''Clear'' and ''Reattempt'' as usual. Every wrong answer will carry one-third negative mark.

A demo capsule of the ''Online examination has been provided in RRB, Thiruvananthapuram Website www.rrbthiruvananthapuram.net for candidates to get themselves familiarised with the test.

The online examination would also ensure speedy recruitment as results of the computer-based exam would be released immediately after the end of the last session.

This would reduce the recruitment time by around six to eight weeks time.

Another new technology being planned for trial during the online exam is checking fingerprints of the candidates using biometric technology.

Presently, the fingerprints of the candidates taken during various stages of examination was checked manually by experts to check cases of impersonation.

If found suitable after trails, the biometric method was planned to be implemented in stages for various examinations.
