Policeman shot dead

Lucknow, Jan 19 (UNI) Unidentified assailants shot dead a police personnel in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh.

Special Secretary (Home) Ashok Kumar Verma said when the police intercepted some criminals under Fatehganj police station area last night, they opened fire, in which constable Pravendra was killed.

The police retaliafed but the accused managed to escape, Mr Verma added.

A search was on for the accused.
