Pakistan threatens to suspend freight train
Sukkur (Pakistan), Jan 19: Pakistan Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has cautioned that Islamabad would suspend freight train services to India if the latter did not start the Khokhrapar-Munabao train services by February 10.
Pakistan ran the Khokhrapar train service for six months and the service was suspended due to floods when the Indian turn came, the Minister was quoted as saying by The Nation newspaper in Sukkur city of southern Sindh province.
''India has been asked to again operate this service and if this is not implemented until February 10, the goods train service from Pakistan to India will be stopped,'' he said.
He said Pakistan had laid railway tracks costing Rs two billion for both passenger and goods services. Therefore, India should start the freight train services as per its pledge.
