Mianpur carnage accused arrested
Arwal, Bihar, Jan 19 (UNI) The main accused of infamous Mianpur carnage in which 35 people were killed, Avinash Sharma and his four associates, were arrested from Senari village under Karpi police station here.
Police today said acting on a tip-off, sleuths of police raided the residence of Avinash Sharma and arrested him along with his four associates last night. Sharma was wanted in connection with Mianpur carnage besides several other criminal cases, police added.
A regular rifle, one countrymade pistol besides several live cartridges were recovered from the possession of the arrested criminals.
Earlier, 35 people were killed in Mianpur by the activists of outlawed Ranvir Sena in 2000. This incident was stated to have taken place in retaliation of Senari carnage in which 54 people --all belonging to a particular caste were killed by the proscribed MCC in 1999.
