LeT-Jaish module, responsible for grenade attack smashed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 19 (UNI) The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and Border Security Force (BSF) foiled militants' plan to cause large scale disturbances during Republic Day when they arrested five militants of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Moahmmad (JeM) in north Kashmir, a police spokesman said.

He told UNI that SOG and 51 BSF conducted raids at different places in Bandipora following a tip-off that militants of LeT and JeM were planning to cause disturbances on or before the Republic Day (RD).

Spokesman said during the raids five militants of both the Pakistan-based outfits were arrested along with five hand grenades.

The arrested militants were identified as Abdul Hamid, Yasir Shamim, Ajaz Mir, Tanveer Ahmad Khan and Shabir Waza.

During interrogation, the militants said they were given the job to attack security forces at crowded places with hand grenades and also cause disturbances in the north Kashmir.

The militants confessed that they were responsible for the blasts in Bandipora and nearby areas during the past six months. They further admitted their involvement in August 14 blasts at Bandipora.
