Judicial inquiry into dacoit's death demanded

Morena, MP, Jan 19 (UNI) Kshatriya Mahasabha activists staged a demonstration here demanding a judicial inquiry into the death of dacoit Ramnath Singh Sikarwar in an encounter with police on January 12.

A rally was taken out yesterday and a memorandum stating their demands was submitted to the Collector. BJP MLA Gajraj Singh Sikarwar and district Congress president Bhagwan Singh Tomar were present.

The memorandum claimed that Ramnath was innocent. Alleging that he was branded as dacoit and killed, the agitators demanded a judicial inquiry into the death besides Rs 5 lakh compensation to the deceased's family members and government job for one relative.

Police had claimed that Ramnath, who carried a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head, was shot dead during an encounter with the dacoit Jagjivan Praihar gang. However, other members of the gang managed to escape.
